Assuming you've read the other stories, it should be pretty obvious that Sensei Karurosa lived quite the exciting life. But not every day was filled with battling ninjas. The years after taking out the last of the ninja terror group were relatively quiet for Karurosa. He didn't date, as the pain of Ayumi's death haunted him for quite a long time. He was somewhat of a local legend and would often be stopped on the streets, many people wanted to bow in his honor.

Sensei Karurosa actually kept a journal for a period of time. We stumbled upon this journal on our last trip to Japan and it contains quite an interesting story:

One day, several years after Ayumi's death, Karurosa was walking through a beautiful Japanese public garden when a gorgeous young woman approached him. She looked much like Ayumi and was probably around the same age that Ayumi would have been.

"Hey, you're that guy that killed all those ninjas, aren't you!" she exclaimed.

"Yes, that's me" Karurosa coldly replied. He was proud of what he had done but the first thing he always thought about was Ayumi so being reminded of the ninja terror group on a daily basis made it almost impossible for him to heal. The fact that this woman looked so much like Ayumi made it all the harder.

The young woman went on to thank him for what he had done, her family had too once been victimized by the ninjas. As she was thanking him, a short man, probably in his late thirties, walked up behind her and grabbed her by the hair, pulling her back but quickly letting go.

"What the fuck are you doing, who's this?" He demanded.

"This is…" she said but before she could finish he grabbed her hair again and began to pull her away, saying, "I don't care who it is, we're leaving!"

Karurosa snapped. He grabbed the man's wrist and squeezed tightly, Karurosa had huge forearms and vice like grip that immediately made the man let go of the woman's hair. A punch from the man was easily blocked and returned with a swift blow to the stomach, sending the man to his knees.

"What have you done?" the woman screamed.

Karurosa found himself face to face with two armed bodyguards.

Soon after this incident he was sentenced to six months in prison for attacking a government official. Not even Karurosa's hero status could get him to avoid jail time.

It was in prison where Karurosa first began keeping a journal. Six months wasn't a long time but he was already a man on the edge and writing daily proved very cathartic.

Karurosa was well known within the prison population and garnered immediate respect from most prisoners. He was considered a hero in the prison as well. The fact that someone who had just entered the prison was so quickly accepted without paying his dues angered some prisoners, especially Akira Akimoto. Akimoto was about the same age as Karurosa. Much like Karurosa, he was quite handsome but definitely in a "bad boy" way, one look at him and you just knew he was trouble. He had been in prison for several years and yielded quite amount of power among the prisoners. He wasn't a big man but he had big connections, his father was one of the top members of the Yakuza, the Japanese mob.

Karurosa's plan for his prison time was to talk as little as possible and write as much as possible. He tried to keep to himself but being so well known made that impossible. Everyone of course was always asking him about his battle with the ninja terror group. Most knew better not to mention Ayumi's name, except for Akimoto. One day during lunch, a reluctant Karurosa was telling the story of the terror group. He knew without that story he was just a regular prisoner and enjoyed the safety his status brought him so he couldn't be a grump and withhold the story from the entertainment-starved prisoners.

Karurosa would always skip the part of the story when Ayumi's severed head is revealed.

This time though, someone called him out on his omission.

"Hey!" Akimoto yelled. "You skipped the part about that piece of ass Ayumi losing her head!" Akimoto bellowed. "That's the best part!"

Karurosa jumped up onto the table and in one fluid motion he kicked Akimoto in the face like his head was a soccer ball. Akimoto crashed backwards. With his mouth full of broken bloody teeth he yelled, "You're dead! You hear me. You're a dead man!"

Karurosa knew who Akimoto was but he didn't have much control over his violent reaction. He surmised that Akimoto would try his best to kill him while he was still in prison, if not then Akimoto would lose great face and respect among the prison population. At the time of this incident there were only two months left in Karurosa's sentence. A lot of the prisoners told Karurosa that they had his back but he knew he couldn't trust anyone, everyone was afraid of Akimoto's power in and out of the prison; even the guards.

The Yakuza once kidnapped a guard's daughter, forcing him to try and break Akimoto out of prison. The attempt failed miserably though, as the prison was heavily guarded. The only result was an additional two years of jail time for Akimoto.

With each passing day Karurosa got a little more anxious. He was certainly confident in his ability to defend himself, but he had so little control in prison over his security. He began to sleep less and less. The slightest sound would awaken him and there were nights when he didn't sleep at all. Sleep deprivation became a serious problem but there was little he could do about it.

Eventually there was just one week left and no further incidents had taken place between he and Akimoto. He knew better then to think that Akimoto had forgiven him. With just 6 nights left, Karurosa sat down in the dining hall for one of his last prison meals. He happened to be sitting at the same table that he had leapt upon to kick Akimoto. Chicken with rice and pea soup was served. The food at the prison was surprisingly good, especially the soups. That night was no exception, the soup was excellent. However, about an hour or so after eating 2 bowls of soup Karurosa began to feel very ill He wasn't alone, virtually everyone was a mess. Prisoners started puking everywhere. They were all sent back to their cells, the prison just wasn't set up to handle so many sick prisoners so they would just have to tough it out.

The combination of food poisoning and sleep deprivation left Karurosa in a very precarious position. He lay down upon his bed amid the moans and groans of hundreds of other prisoners. The next thing he knew he was awakened but a very loud groan, this one had come from inside his cell. Weak and groggy, he opened his eyes to the view of a shoe. The shoe smashed him in the nose and he was pulled by his hair from his bed and thrown onto a small chair. His vision blurry, he looked over to his bunk bed and saw blood dripping down off the side of the upper bunk.

"Over here asshole" Akimoto said, slapping him in the head. In front of Karurosa were Akimoto and another prisoner. Both had long kitchen knives in their hands.

"I told you you were a dead man, didn't I?" Akimoto rhetorically questioned.

"That sure was good soup tonight, wasn't it? I think there were some extra special spices in it!" Akimoto laughed.

"So how would you like to die?" asked Akimoto. "Knife through the eyeball? Maybe we could drown you in the toilet like the piece of shit you are!" he laughed. "Or maybe…maybe we could cut your head off and serve it for dinner tomorrow. You know, like Ayumi?"

"You know I was the first person to fuck her?" Akimoto said to a confused and very sick Karurosa. "What, she didn't tell you about her first boyfriend? Her only boyfriend??…You don't count. My father was always over her house and I would tag along every now and then. Those ninjas did good work. Yeah, Ayumi and I were together for a few months and then I find out she's with someone else. I owned her, she was mine and then you come along. Not that I was in love with her or anything. I had plenty of other girls, but still, the bitch was mine. Here's something else you probably didn't know about her. I was also the last person to fuck her."

Karurosa prayed that this was a bad dream. At this point he normally would have attacked by now but he could barely muster the strength the sit up straight.

"That's right" a grinning Akimoto said. "What a piece of ass. I was the only person who knew that she knew her family was in the terror group. Except for you apparently. Her father was very upset when I told him who was responsible for killing his partners and friends. He was very grateful though for this information, so grateful that he gave me the honor to be the last person to meet with Ayumi. My only regret was that I didn't bring a sharper knife, it was quite a bit of work cutting through that beautiful long neck of hers. So yeah, I think we'll cut your head off too. This time I brought two knifes, sharp ones!"

Maybe it was the poisoned soup. Or maybe it was all this new information. But Karurosa was getting sicker by the second. He thought back to all his time at the dojo. More than anything else, focus and concentration were the key to success. As sick as he was, Karurosa began to focus. He was going to heal himself now! He concentrated on clearing his mind, the rest would follow after that. He would push the sickness right out of his body.

A stream of green fluid spewed out of Karurosa's mouth at such force that it almost knocked down a shocked Akimoto. Karurosa stood up, reached behind himself, and grabbed the small chair that he had been sitting on. He whirled it around and smashed the blinded Akimoto in the face. Akimito fell to the ground. His friend tried to attack Karurosa but slipped on the vomit and soon had Karurosa's foot on his throat, squeezing his neck until he released his knife. Karurosa kicked him in the head, knocking him unconscious. He picked up the knife and turned his attention back to Akimoto.

Akimoto was bleeding from his nose, cheek and forehead and was, of course, covered in Karurosa's half digested supper. Karurosa stood over Akimoto with the knife in his right hand, there were so many things he wanted to do to him, so many ways he wanted to kill him. But he couldn't go through with it. He couldn't bring himself to butcher this animal. There was such a correlation between violence and Ayumi's death that Karurosa wanted peace and nothing else. He had turned to martial arts after his family was attacked by the ninja terror group and had thoroughly enjoyed the ability to not only defend himself, but to demolish his enemy. Now that enjoyment was gone.

Amid the groans of the other prisoners, Karurosa called for the guards and Akimoto and his partner were removed from

Karurosa's cell. Both were later convicted of murder for killing Karurosa's cellmate and sentenced to life in prison. After a few more days of feeling ill, Karurosa recovered from his sickness and was released. His six month sentence was over.

In the weeks following his release, Karurosa slept a lot. He took a very long vacation in southern Japan and finally started to put the death of Ayumi behind him. Eventually he came back home and once again had to deal with strangers approaching him, thanking him for his role in ending the terror attacks. But now he relished in these meetings. He even accepted dinner invitations after turning down so many in recent years. He started making many friends, including many former victims of the terror attacks. He began to see just how much good he had accomplished. He would always feel guilt over Ayumi's death. However, when telling the story of his battle with the ninja terror group he would no longer minimize Ayumi's role. In his opinion, Ayumi was the real hero.
